Making Your Own Weather

Making Your Own Weather is a fascinating concept that is incredibly infectious to those around us. It is more than a simple idea to help you find a positive state of mind during your daily adventures. The practice of making your own weather is the first step to paying it forward. Smile … Take a deep breath … and appreciate the little things that make up the beautiful day ahead of you.

I have a great example of Making Your Own Weather!

The other day, I was driving my nine-year-old grumpy daughter to school. She was miserable and flat-out dreary. I know most of you do not know me, but I’m a big believer in smile, laugh, dance and fun. So, being a child of the 80s, I decided to clue her in on some inspiring music.

When you’re feeling down and need a little happy pick-me-up, it’s all about the Bee Gees’s Staying Alive.

So, there I was, singing and dancing like a fool, and my daughter sat next to me trying her best to be invisible. Once we reached the car rider line, she became frantic because her mother was still singing and dancing.

At Cornelia Elementary, the wonderful police officers help at the car rider line, opening doors for the children. When the police officer opened our door, he heard Staying Alive playing and the smile on his face was priceless.

He started to bust out his disco moves, and as I drove away, I could see other teachers dancing.

It’s not just about making your own weather… It’s about affecting the weather of others. So do your part! Smile at the person walking by and give some high-fives! Encourage happiness and productivity will thrive.

Good morning, lovelies!

This is my first from me to you post on this blog. I wanted to give everyone a little background about me, my family and the reasons I wrote Sissy’s in Trouble.

I was born and raised in Texas, but don’t hold that against me! My family relocated to Georgia in August 2009, and wow! I love the trees, I really do, but where did the sky go?

When I was a child, Wonder Woman and Michael Knight were my heroes. Now, I know I’m aging myself, but I firmly believe in keeping things real, and they both deserve eternal reverence. I was on the swim team, but for whatever the reason, I kept ending up in other people’s lanes. Go figure.

Instead of using a pseudonym, I am using my real name, Vanessa Jean Shockley, IMG_2442for all of The Demon Bunny Chronicles. I am a happily married woman with two beautiful daughters, Alex and Haley. They are ten years apart. I thought it was a good idea, but what ended up happening was I had a toddler and a teenager. Yup. I did that. My mother says they have IMG_0102my attitude problem, but I’m not quite sure what she means by that. I wrote Sissy’s in Trouble for my daughters. I have published other works, but I really wanted to be able to give them something wonderful, written just for them.

photo 5 - Copy (4)I have one dog named Annabel Lee, and one cat named Serenity Angel. They both think it’s ok to wake up at 5:00 a.m. and alert the rest of the house. For this reason, my family is going house hunting today! Yay for fences and Serenity Angel is Boredpet doors.

To bring this tidbit of an introduction to an end, I write. Or at least, I claim to. My husband is a phenomenal writer, and I just skip along while humming “Eye of the Tiger” … trying my best to make people laugh and admire my work.

With that said, the estimated publication date of Sissy’s in Trouble (The Demon Bunny Chronicles: Book 1) will more than likely be released on November 20, 2015. Keep your fingers crossed!

Happy reading and sincerest regards,

Vanessa Jean Shockley
